Yeah, I've kind of loved these ever since I discovered them. Brian Eno is great! Haven't ever used them in anger though...

I'm reading (almost finished in fact) this book at the moment. Sometimes I find his writing/influences a little grating, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how much useful and interesting insight it contains.

Re-reading Grant Morrison's The Invisibles, I got an urge to find out more about Terrence McKenna, which led me here. I've only scratched the surface, but so far I'm liking Quantum Resonance in the Synaptic Field and the gaian mind ("armies of elves teaching us a perfected form of communication").

Was reminded again of David O' Reilly's animations this morning. In no particular order:

Interesting website. Thanks. (The clockwork elves).
I started reading "The Spirit Molecule" book a while ago (should really finish it) - JUST realized the documentary has been released.

Oh god. Not those! xP

Surrealist art images below. If it wasn't late I would reduce sizes for display in forum. Have high res instead:

I don't have many links, but the next game I've been working on is using a western motif, and I would be nowhere without the works of Sergio Leon and Akira Kurosawa. If you haven't watched The Good, The Bad, The Ugly or Seven Samurai, I would suggest you do it right now. I focus mostly on camera angels and landscapes, as well as character mannerisms and the role of "The Other" vs "The Known." Really good stuff.

I admit these are almost contrived examples, kind of a waste of your time, but I honestly cannot understate how these filmmakers have effected me.

I second the Kurosawa nod. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw that the theme for the pageant was "justice" was Kurosawa's Rashomon. Anyone else interested in making "Rashomon: The Game"?

Wonderful thread! I'm loving a lot of the stuff that's been posted.

I don't have much to contribute sadly, but I do find these abandoned monuments to be quite awe inspiring.

And I found this recently, it's a wonderful and artistic video of Saturn and its moons(shot from the Cassini orbiter):

This experimental piece by Kurt Kren is super cool.

Make sure to read the video description so you know what's going on. It's just such an awesome concept.

Actually this movie is one of my greatest sources of inspiration... One of the greatest movies ever made, I think.

I re-watch every time I'm in a bit of a lull, as it makes me feel so positive and enthusiastic. It makes me want to do everything, now! I even keep the postcards I got with the DVD on my shelf right where I work. Koji Morimoto (who I'm also a big fan of, and was animation director on this) definitely had a big part in it... the exuberance of the animation itself... Go watch Mind Game, everyone!

This live recording of the Austin Peralta / Strangeloop Project is a real inspiration for me. It's conjugate sounds for breaking genres.
