Codeing how do you do it?

Hay beginner game maker here. I just find those codes so confusing. I would really like to start making games and getting into the game dev stuff. If anyone could point me in the right direction/ give some kind of website that might help me and other beginners. This would be great, thanks.

Hey there jdog,

There are plenty of tools out there that teach you the logic behind game development without making you dive into the code. Just off the top of my head, maybe try checking out Game Maker, Stencyl, or Game Salad.

Good luck :)

Have you used any of these tools, Bryant? (Still potentially useful a suggestion, but I think it good form to add a disclaimer if you haven't used a tool you're mentioning : P).

Anyway, hello! Welcome to the forums!

What tools/engines are appropriate cad depend a lot on what games you want to make, and what your existing skills are. What stuff, if any can you do already art/programming wise? And, what sort of games do you think you want to make?

HERE'S MY RECOMMENDATION:
ludum dare is on this weekend

http://ludumdare.com/compo/

Consider taking part and making something in renpy

http://www.renpy.org/

Anyone can get up and running with it in a half-hour, to make some potentially fun interactive stuff. I've had a lot of fun with it, and have found it a good tool to introduce people to to get them making things super-fast.

I have indeed given them a go :) I don't use them on a day to day basis, but they're great for quickly sketching out rough prototypes. Game Salad in particular, though buggy, makes it simple to test your UI and screenflow.

One tool that I *haven't* used that people seem to be having success with is Construct. It looks pretty, but it's Windows only :(
