Another location, where the P.I. finds a vital clue, and witness the strangler finding his next victim...

Wow it's really coming together quickly! Looks nicely different. Are you writing the point'n'click interface from scratch?

Thanks :-) Yeah, I'm writing this all in C++ using my Pixie game engine. I'm keeping things very simple though - you won't be able to walk around freely, the characters will just walk to pre-defined interaction points, and backgrounds won't scroll, they'll just be one-screen rooms. I guess I'll have some puzzle elements, but not that many - it will be more of an interactive story, I think...

Progress have been quite slow this week - hoping to pick up the pace again now, and have started animating some of the characters. But animation is so hard, and time consuming. I'll have to keep the number of animations down to the bare minimum, I think :P

Was making good progress on this over the weekend, got most of the point-and-click system (incl. inventory) done on saturday - but then I was hit with a nasty cold, and I'm only now getting back into it.

It is very clear that I've been VERY over-ambitious with this, and though I will definitely have something which is playable, I very much doubt I will finish all the parts I've plotted and planned out. But I'll try to tackle as much as possible before the deadline!

Welcome to the club.

Personally, I don't mind if it's incomplete. It still looks damn cool.

Thank you! And it's good to know one isn't alone :-)

I've made a title screen for the game - there's something about a title screen which helps make it more "real", I think...

It's just awesome, but... isn't it revealing the murderer?

Perhaps it's like Columbo -- we know who did it all along, and the drama lies in watching the net tighten around him.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't - and who says it's even showing the murderer? :-)

Another location done - this is a sleazy motel where you have to go in your search for the killer:

More like you know who did it all along, and you spend the rest of the episode trying to figure out where Columbo left his hat.

Neat! I love the art style and the character's expressions! Also, the title screen is awesome!
