Eddie's gotten A* working, doing light gem stuff now
I modeled some props and I'm doing lighting tests to see how I should build the city

progress update - blocking out level, working on visual style some more. Eddie's got the lightgem mostly working and now he's doing AI and pathfinding and stuff.

Incredible! I'm really looking forward to this. I'm a big fan of Fatal Frame's camera mechanics, so I'd like to see things like that explored more.

Seconding the Fatal Frame love; also, your lighting looks delightful.

Hmm haven't thought about Fatal Frame much, but maybe we'll give it a quick look again and steal some stuff from them :)

Code update: Lightgem works properly and finds the right lightmap index or something now, and footstep sounds now work for different materials, kind of? Eddie's working on... something something right now.

Art update: working on more assets and the 2 different "neighborhoods"... Hightowne has tall majestic classicalish buildings and Downtowne has wood and timbers and stuff.

Probably, but I really like how it looks like this, how the windows imply buildings. If it's playable while looking like that, I say let it be.

In a heartbreaking decision, I'm restarting level design with completely new pipeline / methodology, that'll hopefully be 100x faster. I was trying to build it like a Quake level, when really I should've built it like an Oblivion level.

Have most of the 'real-time' game code down now. But otherwise....not so much. SInce we only have a week left we're gonna try and push out at least a nice example level, and editing if/when we get time.

Now I need to pretend to work so Robert doesn't get suspicious. He's doing mapping or something.

In a shocking discovery, it turns out 1 month != 15 * 48 hr game jams (oh god, too much coding) And we have done way less than we thought we could.

I've done pretty much all the code we need for this initial release, and Robert's got a bit more of the level to do. We have working(dumb) AI, filming/recording, things that blink, and things that let you win. But we haven't exactly started balancing/playtesting yet.

But we have one more weekend! Somehow we will finish something.

Gah, unfortunately we didn't finish... we have about 80% of a level shell and most of the mechanics, but no real level scripting to speak of. We were used to having just a weekend, and got carried away with having a month. Hmm.

Aww. But this shall still see the light of day at some point soon?
(fwiw, I won't be assembling the final lists until next weekend)
