Anyway, 'Lucid' (super secret codename) is a project I started over the summer, as a way to "quickly" complete a few short games under a central theme. It's going to be a trilogy revolving around a main character. Each 'episode' is a separate happening, however all are loosely connected through the central theme. Think of them as different dream sequences over the course of one night and you'll have the right idea. My thoughts behind the project are thus: in life, there are moments in our dreams/etc. that seem quite real, and there are moments in our life that seem so surreal. I am interested in these gray areas in between. Life so rarely lives up to our expectations, and our virtual self and our real self are constantly at odds (or the conscious and subconscious, you might say). What connections and persistence exist between our different states? What about creation/discovery/decisions?
I'm developing in flash with the flixel library (much love, many props). I sucked a friend into the project after he was foolish enough to suggest one too many ideas, he is mainly responsible for helping flesh out content, such as the artwork. Episode one is 'finished' (in its beta state until rest are done and all are tweaked), currently working 2 and 3. Let me know if you're interested in playtesting the first.
Hopefully in the coming months, all three episodes will be released as a unified game.
TLDR: There's a girl. And stars. And a waffle. And a sword. Pictures below.
