Hi there,

This post reads as rather spammy and "come make my game for me". While we encourage collaborations, this forum is not an advertising space for you and I see no indication that you're interested in actually becoming part of our community here.

Will probably delete this thread in a few days in the absence of further discussion.

My favorite part is the fact that couldn't even be bothered to type out anything. Nope! It's just images for good ole Harp Studio! At least they took the time to give their username a picture though.

Hi,

I am really surprised. I do not understand why there are so aggressiveness.

Excuse me if I am wrong, but currently, there are not many ways to contact someone to work with him in the indie games world. I also think that every project always starts by an individual work. So on reflection, it is not so much a narcissistic advert. I want to clarify that I have already started a prototype, but it will be difficult to do everything alone, because I have to take care about all the graphic and sound part.

I am very new in the indie games world. That means I do not know many forums, even fewer developers, and finally, this is my first real project. I would be happy to post pictures here about the progress of the game and discuss it together, with the greatest pleasure.

mitDebo, I updated 3 times this message.
First, I just wrote it with the right tags. But I am somewhat a perfectionist, and I want to give a good impression of my work. So I decided to redo my message with my choice of typography, a new banner, and so on. However, I reposted a final version with edits so ridiculous that you would take me for a mad.

When I saw that someone had finally responded to my message, I first thought that it would be a reaction about my project... I must admit that I'm a little bit disappointed.

*ahem*

Hi! Welcome to the forums, and sorry for your rough introduction.

It is my hope that people who are looking for collaboration and to connect with other developers here should be able to do that. If you're looking for someone, it would do you good to describe your project in greater depth, the role you take in it, and the roles you want to fill.

And a tip for the future: when you send out a highly formatted message like this it tends to look like spam or advertisement. Mostly because these kinds of messages are easy to copy/paste and tend to be fairly generic (so as to appeal to as many non-specific people as possible).

We're more interested in human beings here than press-releases. You don't need a highly formatted message to get our attention, you just need to sound like a real person.

And hey, if you're interested in asking others to help out you, why not stick around on the forums and help out others with their projects? There are plenty of projects here to give feedback on. If you expect to get anything from a community, you should first be willing to give to it.

Hey Harp! Allow me to apologize then. I didn't mean to come across as aggressive, and for that I am sorry. Because your post was simply a picture, it just seemed kind of generic and spammy, as said. The fact that I had seen the exact same post over at http://bitcollective.ca convinced me even more of what I perceived as spam. However, it seems that I was mistaken, and for that, I apologize!

Since you actually do seem like you're here because you have an interest in making games, then by all means, welcome! I'd love to hear/see more of your project, and I hope you're able to find the collaboration that you're looking for.

Thank you for your answers !

I spent a lot of time yesterday to talk with a friend about the "too much" professional aspect of my collaboration request. So ultimately, and because you are probably right, I feel like a stupid robot who made a job advert for Gameloft... I want to apologize about that.
